Tour de Tulou March 3rd-5th 2017
Its in March and will be the earliest Fujian ride we have done, but only by three days.
Fujian is one of the warmest provinces in China with temperatures similar to Hong Kong.
This photo is a little misleading as it was taken in November when the skies are blue, and the air is dry enough to harden the corn kernels into seeds.
March is a little more misty cloaked bamboo forests.
Its the first buds on the tea hedges. It’s wild plum blossoms in the hills.

March is the month of mist, creating mystery around these ancient fortified clan houses.
Plum blosses in the hills start to bloom in early March. Winter is short and mild in Fujian.
Pickled veg are a staple of the hakkha from the times when the tulou were really fortresses.
